Monkey Sox Orange

Monkey Sox Orange

We are massively excited to be relaunching our Monkey Sox blog!

We hope you enjoy reading these posts as much as we have enjoyed writing them. Whether you have stumbled across this page looking for some tips, or have a pair of Monkey Sox yourself, thank you for sharing our journey.

Monkey Sox Orange!!

After recently having a team outing to see Ivo Graham’s comedy gig ‘orange crush’ (which was hilarious and we’d highly recommend going to see him live if you get the chance) there wasn’t a more fitting topic for this week.

Let’s delve into the origins, whether the fruit or the colour came first (make your guesses now), and why we decided to claim our very own Monkey Sox orange.

Orange was originally used in prehistoric cave paintings, the colour made from iron oxide and clay. It was called ‘yellow - red’ for quite some time. That time was up, however, when the fruit was imported by Portuguese and Spanish merchants and it become well known that the colour orange was called orange, not yellow - red as the colour adopted the name of the popular citrus (did you guess correctly!?). As for why we chose orange, we wish we could say it was to follow in the footsteps of the Buddhist monks to symbolise purity and simplicity, or to represent the energy of the sun but quite frankly, well… it's the colour of James's hair.

We hope we you love our Monkey Sox orange too :)

What we have been enjoying:

Running book of the week:

Bought multiple packets of chia seeds after reading this. Can’t quite say I feel ready for an ultra marathon just yet but it’s a start, right?

Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

Running video of the week:

Utterly awe inspiring and will either make want to make you buy a hydration vest and some trail shoes or put you off buying them forever… this is a documentary covering the incredible story of Jasmin Paris tacking the Berkeley marathon.

Socks of the week:

Victory compression socks: pink + turquoise

Thank you so much for reading - we hope you have a lovely week 🧡
