We admit to being geeky about socks and love the development process.
We design with a conscious approach, considering every aspect of the sock to balance style, performance and quality. In doing so, we can streamline our development process and reduce the need for large number of samples.
Each year, we donate our development samples to a good cause to minimise waste and put each pair of socks to full use, such as Glasshouse & Coopah Refugee Run Club. (If you work for an organisation that could make use of sample socks, we're always happy to chat!)
No shortcuts.
Monkey Sox are crafted by a team of experts in Braga, a beautiful historic town north of Porto.
Our Portuguese factories are both recognised for commitment to social responsibility and Occupational Health and Safety. They also achieve STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, a globally recognised, independent testing and certification system for textile products.
They are committed to sustainability, quality and innovation. Zero outsourcing and fair lead times often means we do have a longer wait, alternatives mean we can't guarantee the best socks possible, so we're happy knowing no corners are cut.
Monkey Sox are made on circular knitting machines, then linked, steamed and packaged by hand. We order in small batches and only re-order when we are close to selling out, so we do not accumulate large stocks or waste.
We are increasing our percentage of recycled yarns all the time, in fact we’ve just added 4 extra colours so you’ll be seeing even more recycled yarns in the next batch!
100% RECYCLABLE.
We take pride in making every order that we send personal and a pleasure to receive. Each order comes carefully wrapped with a handwritten note, so receiving Monkey Sox is always a gift, whether you are treating yourself or someone else.
Even better, our packaging is from recycled sources and 100% recyclable!
* Our notecards are printed on recycled FSC certified paper stock and fully recyclable.
* Our famous orange envelopes are made from recycled corrugated cardboard.
* Our tissue paper is fully recyclable thanks to a machine glazed finish.
What are we working towards?
Sustainability is a process, not an end goal. Our next goal is to finish the cycle of our materials. As a team, we are dedicated to bringing you the best pair of socks with the least impact on the planet. We are actively researching and enquiring about ways to reduce waste with a potential take back scheme for tired Monkey Sox. This will only launch when we’re satisfied with all the answers.
