SheRACES Collaboration

It only seemed right for our first blog post to discuss our most recent collaboration with SheRACES and its founder, Sophie Power. Our Collaboration with SheRaces and Sophie Power has been a long time in the making... We met Sophie at the National Running Show in January, having followed her running journey and SheRACES for some time. For those of you who are not familiar with Sophie Power and SheRaces, Sophie is an ultra runner who has represented Great Britain competing at distances up to 100 mile races! Not only a phenomenal endurance athlete, Sophie is the founder of SheRACES.
.
SheRACES is driving change to support female athletes to get more women on the start lines. They help event organisers understand how to make their events more inclusive, help brands understand how events they sponsor can support female runners and help female athletes gain equal opportunities to race. We were thrilled when Sophie said she loved the ethos of Monkey Sox and entrusted us to make her very first SheRACES running socks.  Due to her career in long distance running it seemed right to use the Ultra style, which was a first for us too as our collaborations to date have used our crew socks.
.
Ankle socks have less space to make an impact so the design and logo placement was a challenge.  We’re really pleased with the results.  For the first time ever the Monkey face has moved to the front giving space for “She” and “RACES” across the back of the heel, motivating runners from behind and spreading the message for all the good work SheRACES are doing.
.
The socks are fully cushioned in the footbed with a comfortable 2” cuff and plated heel and toe, taking you to the start line (and across the finish line!) in comfort and style.  Sophie’s favourite part of the socks is the rib around the arch of the foot, not only as it keeps the sock in place (aiding against blisters) but because we surprised her by writing “She” on the left foot and “Races” on the right foot.  Meaning as you pull on your socks pre race you get that all important boost and “You’ve Got This" feeling.
.
Just when we thought our socks were working hard enough they are now the messenger for two great causes! We really hope through these socks we can spread the word for SheRACES and of course for Multiple Sclerosis. (Yes, they are still odd but co-ordinated in true Monkey Sox style!).
